PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS ON ARTFURNITURE Boris Bolshakov, Director of Department of Industrial and Innovation Policy in the Timber Industry of the Ministry of Industry, Science and Technologies of the Russian Federation: - The specific character of ARTFURNITURE is conditioned by the fact that it united the best original furniture developments and presented the modern art of interior design to the full. I’m sure that ARTFURNITURE will enrich the technological potential and the range of products, manufactured by its participants, it will give an opportunity to foresee tendencies in the development of design forms and solutions, it will help to achieve new results in the improvement of competitiveness of the Russian furniture. Valentin Smirnov, Director of Furniture Museum and SMIRVALD Co.: I enjoy working with Valentina Vishnevskaya. She organizes the exhibition and chooses participants professionally. The display of furniture in interior in combination with paintings was very interesting. The interior shown at theexhibition looks chic. It is soft, warm and actual. We represent the Furniture Museum and a restoration company. We always introduce new developments and are eager to show foreign partners that in Russia there are professional furniture manufacturers. I think that in future Russian factories will show many interesting achievements at furniture exhibitions in Sokolniki. Galina Rydkova, Manager of VESTA: - We manufacture high quality furniture, and at last we have our own exhibition. We also produce exclusive furniture. Even experience exchange was really useful. Participants and visitors of the exhibition are experts in art, and conversation with such people is a way to new ideas. Here we had an offer to show our furniture in the Antiquarian Gallery. The exhibition was a success for us.
Margarita Kotlyarenko, Art-Director of Gabriel Yuon-Ergin studio: - We represent the gallery of the French painter Gabriel Yuon-Ergin. I consider the establishment of ARTFURNITURE exhibition as a breakthrough of Sokolniki Culture & Exhibition Centre and think that the Centre should continue to develop this trend. The exposition is well thoughtover. We were pleased with the attention the organizers paid to us. Though all people have different aesthetic perceptions, at ARTFURNITURE all exhibitors find buyers, and all customers – painters, conforming to their tastes. Our objective was to promote ourselves and to view the work of others. We have achieved our goals. Visitors showed great interest in our paintings. Me, too, I was amazed by exhibits at other stands. I have met people who intend to purchase our paintings. So I benefited from the exhibition from the professional and maybe financial point of view! Tatyana Kotsubanova, Director of Art Fronda Gallery: - As far as the future of such exhibitions is concerned, we forecast that luxurious furniture, just as clothes and accessories, will be a matter of fashion - so ARTFURNITURE and similar exhibitions have big prospects. Furniture is an object of art, that is why we decided to take part in the exhibition as soon as we heard about it. We appreciate the fact that a lot of galleries exhibited here- there were very nice exhibits and very interesting stands. ARTFURNITURE is a promising undertaking. The idea of the exhibition is brilliant. Furniture is essential for creation of domestic and other interiors. We have a very big collection. In my opinion, all exhibitions are aimed at establishing new contacts. We’ve struck up many interesting relations. Participating in an exhibition means formulating one’s ideas in a new way. We have done it. We intend to participate in the next ARTFURNITURE. Dmitry and Nadezhda Zhurov, Dmitry and Nadezhda Zhurov Studio: The exhibition was very nice. We were pleased with the tactful attitude of people we met there. It is good that this year, unlike before, ARTFURNITURE was also open on Saturday and Sunday, as it is at the weekend that we made acquaintance with many potential customers. People that attended the exhibition represented different social layers: there were rich fans of art, experts, and simply interested people. The exhibition has good prospects. Its organizer – Sokolniki Culture & Exhibition Centre - is well-known and has an excellent reputation. Olga Oros, Chief Executive of Oros Private Enterprise: I have good impressions of ARTFURNITURE. We felt here very well because the exhibition was very comfortable and at the same time worthy of special attention. Art furniture is a big section of art, which now is in great demand. The main advantage of such furniture is the combination of functionality and artistry. As to the organization of ARTFURNITURE - we had no problems. We are completely satisfied, thanks to the organizers. ARTFURNITURE is a large gathering of involved people, offering opportunities of communication both with colleagues and possible partners. We have received here a lot of orders. Irina Posobilo, Art-director of Gruppo 396: There were a lot of visitors - mostly professionals - at ARTFURNITURE. We have achieved our goal to get acquainted with designers, builders and design studios. All the time there were many people at our booth. They showed professional interest in our exhibits, which was very pleasant. Valentina Vishnevskaya, Director of ARTFURNITURE, as always, was very nice to us. Next year we will exhibit for sure! Alina Khojakova, Vice-Director of Marketing Department, SPS. Interior + Furniture: At ARTFURNITURE the stands were designed very well, which is very important at any exhibition. Exhibits were very interesting. Our stand aroused great interest of attendees. Every day we distributed thick piles of booklets. We examined the exposition with great pleasure. I found some nice jewellery and I will buy it tomorrow. I have understood now that ARTFURNITURE exhibition discovered new names and it was very important! Olga Gaiko, Photographer of Art-photo: This is the first exhibition I take part in. I saw at ARTFURNITURE many interesting things. Interior photos have not yet gained popularity in the country, but ARTFURNITURE helps us to introduce the new art of interior decoration. I am very glad that such an exhibition was launched in Russia. ARTFURNITURE also helped me to evaluate the demand for my works. I have designed my stand by myself. Many people came to look at my photos. I think it was the right decision to exhibit. I’ve struck up a lot of new contacts and have got many offers from interior salons and design studios. I hope that the contacts established at the exhibition will help me to exhibit at ARTFURNITURE-2003. Suren Ayvasyan, painter: A great deal of designers and artists appear every day. So the exhibition has big prospects. The organizers are professionals, there were a lot of visitors. I hope that next year nothing will prevent me from exhibiting at ARTFURNITURE-2003. Marina Novodvortseva, Director of the Moscow representative office of Kalina: - The exhibition included a lot of exhibits that were new for our art. The idea to combine furniture and painting in one exhibition is very good because these two branches supplement each other. At ARTFURNITURE-2002 we have exhibited the best sets of furniture produced by our factory lately. We usually take part in furniture exhibitions of Sokolniki Culture & Exhibition Centre twice a year because here we get many offers and establish useful links! WELCOME
TO ARTFURNITURE-2003! RESULTS OF ARTFURNITURE-2002 One can say that ARTFURNITURE is a bright star in the constellation of Moscow exhibitions. No other exhibition centre in Russia organizes similar projects. The exhibition demonstrates exclusive furniture, which can’t be found in shops. These are furniture masterpieces, created by small studios, furniture from private collections and exclusive works of artists. As the organizers of the exhibition point out, the main objective of the show is to bring art back to the living space. Each family should have a relic – a painting, a vase or something else, some object of family pride. Genuine beauty, inspired by the hands of an artist, must be in every house, and ARTFURNITURE helps to create this beauty.
The unique character of the exhibition manifested itself in the choice of exhibitors, in their interaction, in the atmosphere of the event. Fantasy and creative work, beauty and daring ideas, brilliant engineering solutions and refined philosophical concepts ruled the show. Visitors of the exhibition passed from one booth to another and found themselves in different worlds: contemporary Middle Ages of Vladimir Tsyganov’s studio and ecological grotesque of Dmitry and Nadezhda Zhurov, erotic and cosmic audio office of Morozov-Design studio and city-toycloset of Anastacia Nemoliaeva’s studio. Art-fronda, one of the largest Russian furniture salons, showed conceptual interiors, combining furniture and works of art, created by professional artists. Alexandria studio of art glass displayed unique stained-glass windows based on Tiffany technique. Fans of healthy life style enjoyed the set of items for comfortable sleep and rest, demonstrated by Beliton Company. All items are made of tempur, a unique material, originally developed for aeronautics purposes. Interesting furniture production was presented by Vitaly Minaker’s studio. His art objects, made of rare kinds of wood, jewellery and natural leather, were among the art sections of the exhibition.
GRUPPO 396 Furniture Factory and Instroy Company presented whole interiors, consisting of unique furniture compositions, at their booths. Different kinds of art harmonized with each other at the show – Alexander Shevchuk’s picturesque high-tech “about apple dreams” and gracious graphics, presented by the sculpture studio of Oleg Zakomorny and Katib Mamedov, architecturally well-shaped jewellery compositions of Isabella Rim and witty engineering solutions for painting presented by Zoya Chernakova. Endless variety of styles and trends created the atmosphere of an unusual and bright celebration. The trade show was effective. Designers, dealing with interior arrangement, had an opportunity to see many works of art: painting, graphics and applied art. Artists experienced a lot of impressions and offered new ideas; galleries and trade companies found new clients. Everyone without a single exception established new contacts and explored new prospects. The results of the exhibition proved that it was essential to hold these exhibitions annually. The majority of participants shared their positive impressions with the press service of Sokolniki Culture & Exhibition Centre and expressed the wish to become regular exhibitors of Sokolniki Culture & Exhibition Centre.
